Livejournal! It's been so long. The last few posts were so =(
But I am here today, just checking in.
I'm back in the US these days. Last summer, right in the middle of my 4th semester on the island, I received the best news I have ever gotten. I was sitting in the back of the MDL towards the end of clin path lab. I had been waiting on a particular email involving a request to transfer to UF CVM. The waiting was driving me nuts. I honestly was not expecting anything in my inbox, but I checked my email anyway.... BAM! There it was. An email regarding transfer sitting there in all of its bold, unread glory. My heart started to POUND. I clicked. I read. I started to cry.
I GOT IN.
I GOT IN!
I GOT IN!
I looked over at my friend, Caitlin, in complete shock and tears. She had tears too.
I went outside and walked over to the fence by the burger shack/lunch area and looked out across the sea. So much emotion just exploding all over my body.
2 weeks later on July 15th 2012, about the time it took me to get my life in order to make the move down to the island in the first place, I was on a plane and heading home to America.
And here I am. A junior vet student almost done with my first round of clinical rotations. I extended my time in school by one year, but it has been worth the extra work. So worth it.
Matt and I live together. He moved to Gainesville with me, though he is currently in Dallas with the dogs spending some time with his family. We got engaged this past March during our spring break adventure on the Appalacian Trail. Our Wedding date is set for June 28th, 2014 in Dallas.
I am loving life so much right now! Clinics are a lot of work. But I love it anyway. I've already learned so much, especially about large animal stuff. It has been confirmed that large animal is for me, but I would like to also do small animal general practice. Really I think I want to do general practice for a while after I graduate. Then we can see if I want to take things further and specialize in something. Definitely want to intern somewhere for a year, though.
So that's my life these days. We'll see where I am whenever I remember to come back and pay livejournal a visit.
