Best way to shorten a mane without thinning it?
An overzealous pull job a couple years ago nearly balded this horse in a few spots, and it's been "Hair Club For Geldings" around here ever since.
Because in this case it grew back with a layered look -- a long stringy thin layer that didn't get pulled and has been braided on-and-off to protect it, and a thin short layer that must be the regrowth after the pull job -- I'm probably going to do some sort of vertical-scissors thing to cut the long parts back to roughly the same length as the short parts. It might not be hunter-braid-ready perfect but it would at least be tidier, which is all we need for this horse at this time.
But curious if there's other ideas out there for how to manage a skimpy thin mane.
