I've been asked to do this by my trainers a few times and I was wondering what are the benefits of it, aside from developing stronger leg muscles.
Are there any benefits for the horse? Is it supposed to help to the rider relax in any way? If it is, I'm going about it all wrong, because I'm too busy lifting my ass off the saddle with no foot rest to be able to to do it.
