Hello everyone!
I recently rescued an Egyptian Arabian and I'm trying to come up with some show names for him. I figured it would be fun to see what everyone could come up with. :) The rescue story is under the cut.
Back in June my friend got a call about 22 abandoned arabians. The property had been foreclosed on in early spring, and the owner just up an left leaving all her horses and cats behind. When my friend and I got to the property we were not expecting to find nice show quality horses. There were three dead horses and someone had let all four stallions in with the mares. The youngest stud was beat to pieces. Horrified we contacted our hauler and arranged to have the horses picked up the following day. Well, that's when all hell broke loose when a neighbor saw us on the property and decided to go and check on the horses themselves. The neighbor was trying to be helpful and didn't realize we were there to get the horses, but they ended up putting up so much red tape that it took until mid July for us to actually get the horses. Meanwhile several of the mares had foaled out, and the babies did not survive.
So, my friend headed up there with our horse trailer ready to take on all 20 horses when low-and-behold the owner showed up with animal control spouting that all this had been a huge misunderstanding and that she was there to take her horses home. Carefully she picked up all her breeding stock and sales horses (about 12 horses) then she turned to the animal control officers and told them to shoot the remaining horses. My friend instantly stepped up and explained she'd take the remaining horses and drafted a bill of sale up for the 8 horses that was signed by all the animal control officers and the owner saying that all papers would be handed over in 30 days.
During all this, I had fallen in love with a little rose grey gelding and ended up taking him home after his 30 day quarantine was over. The breeder still hasn't relinquished the paper work on the horses, (but we're working on it, worst case we take her to court) so I don't know his bloodlines. His barn name is Phoenix and now he needs a show name :) He goes into training next month for Hunter.
Here's some pics of the little guy:
