Boarding in the Atlanta area

Hey everyone!
I really don't post all that often.
But I am moving to Atlanta from Tennessee and needed some help. Figure someone here may have some suggestions for me.

I have a 8 year old TB cross mare named Gracie. Some may remember her as I came here for support when she had to be spayed a few years ago. She is doing well and we are schooling ( Read more... )

welcome to Atlanta! I don't have any nearby suggestions for you, but I live in midtown and my horse lives south of Atlanta in McDonough. I'm sure you can find a good stable nearer to you than that, but I have to say, I'm so happy with where my horse is now, I just feel like putting in a plug. It's a small classical dressage training barn - pasture turnout, stalls with paddock access overnight, 3 feedings a day, very attentive care; I don't worry about a thing when I'm not there. And I love my trainer too :) http://www.sandiforester.com.

It's a 45-60 minute drive for me, but so much better than the stables closer to me that it's worth it. You should have a lot more options up where you're living, but just in case you can't find quite the right place, it's something to consider.

A good friend of mine is the head trainer at Hunter Valley Farms in Alpharetta, which would be probably 45 min from you. I rode on the IHSA team with her at UGA and she is a great person and a great coach. It seems to be a primarily h/j barn but I know she takes on all disciplines for boarders. Info is here:

I had a great experience when I lived in ATL but I am not familiar with many of the barns, I do know there are lots to choose from! Email Alex (trainer) she is a sweetheart!

What town? I boarded within the 285 loop at a place called Little Creek in Dekalb, but a Google search reveals they have since changed management. Still looks like a good option though: http://www.littlecreekfarmconservancy.org/LCFC/The_FARM.html

If you are outside the perimeter, you can find places pretty darn cheap, relatively speaking.

I can't remember the name of the place now, but I believe it was Camelot Farms? I live in FL, but spent some time in GA. I can recommend a vet, haha. =)
