I had a riding lesson on Fred yesterday. Fred is my five year old American Saddlebred gelding. I show him in Country Pleasure. It was my first day riding in the double bridle since August '09. He was WONDERFUL. No hauling, no throwing his head, no problems at all. My biggest problem was keeping his nose tucked in and that was about it. I need to work on my position still but things take time. Rome wasn't built in a day! We're improving a lot though-- in fact, we get better and better every lesson. Last lesson, when he got excited and forward (started to get animated), I threw myself on his neck half the time and let him break. This time, there was none of that.
I'm not asking for any critique. I know what I need to work on-- I'm not perfect. I've been working my ass off for the past year. I just need to get back into taking lessons... I rarely take them because I'm away at school. :)
That's what I mean by nose needed tucked a bit. That was usually the worst it got.
