Accident prone and bum legged horse

I have only lurked here for a few days, but I feel the need to post (and I haven't came across any topic similar to this). My mare is very accident-prone and clumsy, she is always getting into the wrong things at the wrong times. Somehow she managed to get an infection in her left front leg, making her leg look more like a stump than a leg. She has had this ongoing issue for about 10-11 weeks now and I am at a loss of what to do. The swelling went down around week 8-9 but has not gone away completely. She is still swollen in her knee and cannon bone. To add on to our problem... her right hoof is very flat, her sole and hoof wall are the same length and her frog is very shallow. I have a farrier working with me on this issue, but I am open to more opinions on what to do!

More about her leg - One day she was perfectly fine playing in her stall and run, the very next day she could not put any weight on her left front leg, and it was so swollen that it was the same circumference all the way down. I called the vet (panicking) and he came out and gave her x-rays to see if he could find any chipped bones, fractures, breaks, etc. He also gave her an ultrasound(?) to check out the muscles, tendons and such. For about six weeks he and I were back and forth about what could be wrong with her. Finally around week 7-8 she started developing an abscess on the inside of her knee which led me to the conclusion that it was an infection! I consulted with him and we got her on some strong antibiotics. She is doing a great deal better but she is still swollen. She limps on occasion but it is more like she is dropping her shoulder, because when I watch her trot her head does not bob at all. Suggestions?

About us: My name is McKenzie, I am 20 years old and have been riding for over 6 years now. I am pregnant and due late April, so I am not in perfect riding condition. Dolly is my horse, she is a 4 year old registered quarter horse mare. Also one of the biggest pains in the butt you can ask for!

All opinions and help are greatly appreciated!
