Ride and Drive
Hi all, new here and to LJ in general. Hint, hint friends would be welcome.
Anyhow, I am currently in Syracuse for the Maclay finals and the funniest thing happened today. They were running this silly class called the Ride and Drive. Riders had to jump a course then dismount and drive a cones course in a tractor pulling a manure spreader which culminated with them backing it up between several cones. Obviously it was mainly for entertainment and the tractor company sponsor. Anyway, no one could back up worth a lick but Leslie Howard took the prize for worst driver. She had gunned it forward to line it up with the cones and took her foot off the accelerator and turned backwards to look where she thought she was going. Unfortunately, she didn't use the brake because she thought it would stop when she let off the gas (hydrostatic transmission). WRONG! She went full tilt into the side of the arena, smushing the front of the tractor and totaling a few flowerpots. OMG was it funny. Apparently the ability to ride and the ability to drive are inversely proportional.:-)
