Hello everyone! I've got a few questions for you about driving horses, but more specifically, miniature horses. I've had a mini for about three years now or something, and this past fall we finally got around to buying him a proper cart and harness. The harness is a bit big for him, so we're going to try to take it to a local harness maker/repair place and see if they can alter it to fit him better.
But the thing is, I don't know anything about driving. He's trained to drive, and has been responsive to the bit of ground driving I've done with him (in a halter with two lead ropes, ghetto, I know, but like I said, I don't know much about doing it for real), although I was able to get in contact with the gal that owned him a few years back and trained him, and she admitted that she didn't exactly know what she was doing.
So my question to you is, what would be a good method for me to learn? Obviously the best way would be for me to take driving lessons, but that's not exactly possible for me unless I trade services instead of paying (can't afford it). I live in Washington, USA (Kitsap County), so if you know anyone I could learn from that would be OK with trading services, that'd be great, but if not, I'm looking for some books that I could read in order to educate myself a bit. Also, where can I go to watch people driving (like an event/show)?
