... are confusing as hell. I had my first try at it during my lesson on friday. Is it the outside leg you are supposed to be following or the inside leg? I forgot that already. And how can you tell? She had me glance at the horses shoulders at first but I had a hard time following/concentrating when I'm trying to also concentrate on my posture/keeping up the posting/leg aides/where my hands are. And on top of that for some reason every time I would adjust my reins (she usually has to remind me as I let them get too loose) he would start trotting. Which I've never had him do before..
And I've been looking around at barns in my area, asking if any of them would trade work for riding lessons, and so far two of them have said yes. Anybody have any good/bad experience with doing this? I'm having a hard time affording my weekly lessons, and ideally I would like to have more than one lesson a week. If I had endless cash I would just stay at my current barn because I like my instructor and they take fantastic care of their horses, so I would hope that I'd see that in other barns, but I've only been to one, so I don't know what to expect.
Thanks!
