I wanted to post to the Equestrian world just how super cool my BO/BM is. I wanted to pay my board fee prior to Thanksgiving (before we go away), so I asked him if he would mind if I gave him the check earlier. His response "Gee, I don't know that might throw everything out of order...YES OF COURSE YOU CAN PAY ME EARLY!!" (said in a joking manner). The next day I gave him the check for what I thought the invoice would be for. When I actually *got* the invoice I was $30.00 short and I wasn't sure what the other charges were. I spoke to the BO on the phone and we figured it out. He then proceeds to tell me not to worry about it - I can pay him later for it. I said no - I didn't want to have a part of the invoice go unpaid, so I would get the rest to him ASAP. He told me he wished that the other boarders had the same view as I did. Dumbfounded, I said "You mean there are people that don't?" and he tells me that there are people he is still chasing after for last months board. I told him that if I ever got to that point - I would come to him first.
Am I an oddball in thinking that the board check is supposed to be paid on time? What do you get a super cool barn manager for Christmas?
On a related topic - Danielle told me she was moving her mare to my barn. When she called our BO she asked if he had space. His response? "I'll make space for you." Danielle used to board a gelding there, so she already has a relationship with the BO/BM.
On a final note - I stand here to publicly tell all of the Equestrian community members, that for Christmas/Hannukah/Yule I will get my horse a rider with a backbone and leadership (it's about time I get my head out of my arse...).
Cheers all!
