Outdoor board--should an 'emergency' stall be available?

I've been boarding at the same barn for four years. The barn owner is AMAZING 99% of the time, but a difference of opinion on what should be available with outdoor board has us at odds.
what do you think? )

While it sucks that you used to have stalls available and now you don't, you shouldn't have taken another boarder's stall. You BO should also have appropriate turnout for the field boarders.

In a perfect world, there would be emergency stalls, but that's not reality. If I were you, I'd either suck it up and pay for a stall, even if you don't use it, or find somewhere else to board your horse if the BO won't switch pastures.

Linus is on pasture board; they don't do stall board, so we have a barn of empty stalls in case we need them. But we also have a BO and BM who don't listen to what we tell them and do whatever the hell they want. I can't find a better situation at this point, believe me I looked after the stunt they pulled this spring, but they know if they touch my horse again without my express permission, I have every right to go homicidal bitch on them.

I guess it's all about what you can compromise on. I love that I have self care and Linus is happier and does really well on pasture board. I was unable to find anything other than stall board, which is not in Linus's best interest.

Thank you for your comment. I will likely move once I have a career that allows it. In the meantime, I will rent a stall next spring if the mud fever is bad (ALL of them get it, indoor or not).
