New project and show names
Hi all! Hope you are all well :)
Some of you may remember my previous post about searching for books and new ideas on backing, as I was going to be rebacking my friend's horse Nickster - i'm currently borrowing a few from friends and ordering others :)
So recently my friend F and I have been talking about me taking Nickster for the summer while i'm off University to the riding-centre-turned-livery that I used to take lessons at. We figured this might be a good idea since F's heavily pregnant and finding it a little difficult with him at the moment, give Nicky a chance to interact with other horses instead of the cows that he's with at the moment, and alot of my riding friends still board their horses down at this yard with my previous instructor. So i'm excited at the prospect of a horsey summer! :)
Meet Nicky. Also known as Nickster, Nix and Nicholas.
F and I viewed him as a 'green four year old' two years ago. He was 2ish when we checked him out on the visit, backed up by a vet. Being ridden and jumped no less. *headdesk*
So we took him home and threw him to the field for a year and a half, being walked out and desensitised in that time, then lightly backed and turned away.
He's around 4 and a half now, and is now standing at between 14.3hh and 15hh after taping him the day the pictures were taken.
Not sure on breed. We believe he has a good bit of Connemara in him though.
Here's a picture of the beast in question - looking a little more 'Punk Donkey' than I would like! Totally unphased by 'scary-monster-tractors' :)
Standing on a concrete hill, with rubbish lighting and rubbish phone photography - poor guy!
If all goes well, i'm thinking of taking him to a local schooling show in late Sept. just to let him experience the hustle and bustle. This got me thinking of future show names for this boy.
I know it's REALLY difficult without knowing his character, but can anyone think of any show names that would include one of his names somewhere? There are 3 altogether on the online name sites I checked and I've had a really hard time thinking some up... would appreciate some new ideas if anyone has any!
