I am finding it quite amusing that no Bush supporter I have spoken to has been able to tell me ONE good thing he has done while in office (other than the Hussein capture). People come up with some pretty interesting answers though. Here's one I have recieved a lot

Given tax breaks to large corperations is not a great thing, but it's the only way to keep our country flourishing. It is much cheaper for large corporations to make and import the products overseas, by granting them tax breaks and laxing on certain restrictions we keep them here, thus creating jobs for Americans, increase revenue flow for America and helping the economy of AMERICA!!
Bush is granting $250 million dollars to education reform aimed at K-12. He's setting up programs to teach parents how to read so they can help their children get a head start.
The only aspects that Bush is behind on is gay rights and the environment. However, the economy is more important RIGHT NOW than the environmental concerns. There is nothing so crucial that by putting it on the back burner for the time being that it will be devastating in the end. However, if he neglect the economy then there will be no future funding for the technological advancments that will help the economy.
Ed, say what you want, but Bush has been a strong, good leader in a weak and uncertain time. You may disagree with him, but you can NEVER say that there aren't VERY VALID reasons to re-elect him.

Bush's policy avoided a recession by giving people money that the country didn't have, thus increasing the deficit. Recessions are unavoidable and expected in an economic cycle, because they lead to a strong rebound. However, Bush extended the low period by increasing the national deficit (which requires higher taxes to pay off...that works against a strong economy).
Foreign outsourcing does little to increase jobs. sure companies increase profit margins, but most of that money is filtered back into the system (aka give upper tiers raises and invest in technology and industry advancements). A company wouldn't move to another country if they didn't recieve tax breaks and such, because importing a product to the US would be far too costly, not even considering the cost of relocation of employees/operations. Plus, taxes are like energy...they never disapear, only change form. If big business gets breaks, those taxes are just added to the rest of the system. To say that cutting jobs in america will create jobs is a definitive contradiction.
As for the education factor, sure he's trying to pass funding now...but where the hell was this funding when he passed the law 3 years ago?? And where's he getting all this dough anyway? He's simply widening the debt to the point where the low economy will go well past the next four years. I have yet to hear him even MENTION how he plans to fix the deficit, except saying his plan is "similar to Kerry's".
He's only setting up the adult learning initiative so he can take part!!
I mean, I'll admit that he did a good job after 9/11. He handled it well and did a good job. I just don't like how he uses this tradgedy as leverage to win people's respect.
The moral issued was big in this election too...everyone admits that. The sad thing is that its not a good moral issue that got him the victory in a number of states. Pro-life, anti-gay marriage...it honestly just sickens me that so many people can be so full of negative feelings toward one segment of the population. I wouldn't care if he won with good intentions, but he obviously won on the platform of gay marriage and the perpetuation of fear and false security.
