I'm really intrigued by the pennies from heaven idea! I'd heard it as a saying but never thought of it literally.

The name thing is wild. It's almost like a spy movie. "We have ways of knowing many things..."

I live in a house built in 1650 that may at one point have been a morgue. The doors open and close sometimes, and there are odd cold drafts but that may be due to age rather than spirits. Having said that, each time the doors open I normally say hello :) I do believe in ghosts, although I can honestly say I've yet to see one.

1650? Wow! I love that you say hello when the doors open.

My other half calls him/it, if there is something, Gary the Ghost ;)

Yeah, I believe in ghost. Or maybe the broader idea of a person leaving behind their energy in a place.

The husband of the previous owner of our house died in a motorcycle accident while we were in the process of closing on the house. :( It was really sad, and we actually delayed moving in for a few months so that she could get things together.

After we moved on, though, sometimes I felt this energy in the hallway outside of my bedroom. It wasn't really negative, I just felt like someone else was there, you know?

I think I know the feeling. That would make me sad, with that story, if it's him, is he wondering where his wife's gone?

I've never seen one, but when I was in high school I babysat at my aunt's house often, and would regularly hear loud, clear knocking on the cabinets of the kitchen, but there was nothing there. Once my friend was with me and was upstairs with one kid while I was down with the other and we both heard footsteps on the stairs. Eee I'm creeping myself out now.

I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts, persay, but I do think I believe in the idea of people being able to leave a little something of themselves behind...

Nothing has ever happened to me personally, but apparantly (this is before I was born) after my great-grandma died the people still living in my grandma's house used to hear noises coming from the upstairs where her bedroom was for awhile. Also, one of their cats temporarily developed the habit of...you know how cats will come up to you when you're sitting and sort of "knead" your legs? He'd do that to empty chairs.

For what it's worth, when I was a little kid and years before I'd even heard about any of this, being alone upstairs in that house used to give me the creeps.

Interesting. I can picture the cat so clearly! A lot of what I think of as ghosts seems to be more of people leaving energy behind.
