Last week, Eric and I were parking in a metered spot at around 7:00 PM. I went to see if we needed to feed the meter (which we didn't) and Eric said something to the effect of "There are no meters in the city that are in effect after 6:00."
Well, guess who is wrong.
I drove up to school from my new internship for my class last evening and parked on the street next to the school. About a month ago they changed the meters to this machine where you pay and print out a receipt and but it on your dashboard. Apparently, they also changed when the meters stopped being in effect from 6:00 to 8:00. So I got a ticket. Grrr..the one time I don't double-check.
I go to pay the thing because I was my own damn fault. The ticket says you can go to this site to pay it online. I was going to do that until I got there and found that they charged a $7 "convenience fee." WTF? That is the biggest scam since Ticketmaster! You want me to pay more for paying my ticket in a method that gets you your money faster and more efficiently. That is quite possibly the stupidest idea I have ever heard.
This is also all after trying to scrounge about $4.00 worth of change for the meter in the garage by work. It really reinforces how much commuting sucks.
