Rockin' and Rollin"
Eric and I went to see the Charm City Roller Girls last night. It was the Mobtown Maulers (CCRG's All-Star travel team) versus a team from Virginia. Mobtown basically killed them, but it was still a really good match.
It was a whole lot of fun, more than I was expecting. Going in I thought it was just going to be a bunch of girls on roller skates beating each other up and that I wasn't going to be able to follow it. But I was totally wrong. I was amazed by the athleticism and skill of the girls. I was able to catch on pretty quickly and as the match went on I was able to pick up on the strategy and tactics involved.
Plus the entire atmosphere was so great. Everyone has fun names and the announcers are really into it. And although the girls are all beating each other up out there, there is a lack of genuine animosity between the teams. Plus there is the whole idea that this is a labor of love which makes it a lot of fun. I highly reccommend it to anyone who is thinking about going.
