This weekend was a bit of a mix. The choral concert which we've been rehearsing for since October was on Saturday.
On Friday I went to help set up the staging etc in the church, and broke myself. Well, actually I strained a wrist, pulled about ten muscles, some of which I didn't even know I had, and gouged a hole in my hand which is bloody sore. A lot better today, though.
The concert was brilliant. We did a choral version of Faure's Pavane, which apparently Faure himself wrote the words for. He really should have stuck to the dots. The words (which are admittedly in French, in which I'm not very fluent) seemed to amount to the women singing "those blokes are stupid" and the men singing "those girls are bitches". But it sounded pretty, and I'm sure no-one could understand the words anyway.
We also did Zadok the Priest, which is a ginormous amount of fun to sing. And the Nelson Mass, which Haydn wrote for Nelson's state funeral and is very lovely indeed.
Then The Husband bought me Chinese food and we drove home, watching the moon gradually disappear as we went. (I hadn't actually realised it was a lunar eclipse, so I was slightly confused when I looked up and saw a big bite missing out of the moon...)
Then yesterday was spent writing a truly terrible essay on Information Literacy.
