Yesterday I overshot my driveway on slippery roads, so I had to back up then turn in. There's a strategy there, as the tires on my tiny car are completely bald (not worth getting new ones when I'm leaving), and I've a ways to go. So I backed up, got a running start, fishtailed in and gunned it towards my spot.
Now, the real problem here is not the tires nor the slippery roads nor the three/four inches of snow in my driveway, which is about to become two feet with this weekend's impending Nor'easter. Oh no. The real problem here is that I'll park and re-park three times if I'm not perfectly straight. You see where this is going.
So I'm swirling around in my driveway, shoveling and swearing, when John (our upstairs tenant) swings in, neatly parks his little subaru, gets out and surveys the situation. Or at least watches me shovel for awhile, bemused.
Today I parked my car, crooked, on the first try. That was several hours ago. Obviously it's still driving me nuts!
For Jen: Sweet, keep me posted.
For Sharan: my training is 3 mos and my assignment is two years. I won't get my official location and job description until after training. The vague answer is that I will aid the Bolivian government in implementing environmental initiatives at the local level. How was Australia!!!?
