Doom (2005)

This is a nigh-unwatchable movie version of the crappy videogame. A young looking Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban of 'The Boys' run around in this underlit cheap looking dreck. This was not a dark exploration of macho swagger. There are low standards, a dystopian Mars and this was not a terrifying insight into the ugly side of humanity.

Nobody listens to the profiler Fitz. Nobody reads the manifesto bar Fitz. There is mumbling and disgruntlement and discontent. The unabomber and his lawyer are seen in 1997. The FBI don't seem trustworthy, respectful, compassionate, steady team players. They don't want a trial in 1997. Fitz is not an amiable duffer.

Here are some shows that have favoured status because they tell tales of the self-inflicted results of recklessness with arch wit and lurid sensationalism and convoluted plotting. They cause chilly unease and are yums, let’s hope they don’t have prophetic accuracy.

Trinity is a place where people talk with snide derision, yell and seep malevolence. Where Jonty’s pathological devotion to murdered Ross goes badly and his so called friends mock him and beat him up. Where a cassette tape is used to record an incriminating statement (it was 2008). Where a cop has malicious intent and where the acting was campy.
