So....I got my PhD!
My doctoral defense was yesterday. It was incredibly stressful right up until it started, then it was fine. (I think the beginning really put me at ease...you can tell things will go well when your thesis committee starts off by arguing over which of the Avengers they would be. XD)

Yeah, Avengers jokes = instantly relaxed. (No there were no dirty thoughts, if only because Steve!professor and Tony!professor are not the two I ship respected professionals whom I would never have dirty thoughts about.)
Haha whenever you answer hard questions you're like I AM A MUTHAFUCKING BAMF in your head. :D or is that just me? I felt very proud of my answers, and I got some laughs too which was nice.
I did a little celebrating! Went out to dinner with the D&D crowd and my family. Very fun.
Okay I still haven't seen Captain America, wtf. But I am falling in love with Chris Evans, based on gifs of him talking about playing with his sisters My Little Ponies and sending texts to all the other Avengers actors saying "Assemble" and LSKJa;lskhdfalksfd I LOVE HIM SO HARD. If Steve is even half as cute as Chris Evans then I'm in trouble.
YAY FOR SHIPPING STEVE/TONY, YES YES YES. Okay I will totally put together a rec post before I leave, BECAUSE I MUST SNARE YOU INTO THIS SHIP, IT IS SO AMAAAAAAZING.
Uh, I am slightly less busy -- I need to finish my thesis corrections, submit, renew my apartment lease, pick up my graduation regalia, fill out a bunch of forms, do my taxes, go to to graduation parties, and a celebratory lunch. By Friday. Because Saturday I got to my boat, so I also need to do laundry and pack and review the belaying diagrams and OH GOD WHY AM I ON THE INTERNET, MUST GET BACK TO WORK
Yes, TALKIES SOON! What is your schedule??? I have no idea when to call you now! Pick a time I shall call it!

If you happen to have some amount of time before leaving Saturday, I could do talkies tonight or tomorrow. Tonight I'd have to stop by about 11pm my time, since I have to get up at 8am and have been getting not enough sleep all week; tomorrow I will likely be tired but don't have to get up the next day, so your schedule would more likely be the limiting factor there. If neither of those work, I guess it may have to wait until you're back? Unless you'd have time to call from the ship? How long are you going to be off sailing this time?
(In general, my schedule involves getting up at 6:30am Tues-Thurs, and 8am Fri/Sat alternating. So generally, Sat/Sun nights will be best for talkies (or alternating Thurs/Fri), if we talk as long as we usually do--which, admit it, we will. Of course I also frequently have weekend plans like gaming and such... argh too busy. :/)
Congrats again!! I can't stop saying how awesome you are!!!!

(Seriously, I'm sorry about your not getting to go to your ship yet because of frustrating thesis finishing, but I'm glad it sounds like you're going to be able to work something out. :) )
Anyway, tonight is probably the best night for me this weekend, because I have a friend's bday party tomorrow evening, and Homestuck rpg Sunday evening, and I don't know how late either will go. Actually, tomorrow afternoon could work instead, if that's better for you for some reason, but tonight is the only evening I am free until... sometime a while from now.
