thank you for all you're about
so much to be grateful for this week that i don't want to lose amidst the pains of having to be on call 24/7 to play nursemaid:
- the surgery went well
- the recovery process seems to be going as best as can be expected
- i got to be here for the surgery
- the doctor is from ipoh
- i have a fucking amazing social support system that, on top of constant emotional support, also got me a ride to the airport, lecture notes for all the classes i've missed, recordings of said lectures, and an offer of dinner and a ride home from the airport the night i head back to evanston
- and all this despite the fact that i'm an ungrateful brat who doesn't appreciate her classmates as much as she should
- i'm in a school system that has its priorities straight
- i haven't killed anyone while driving on the road here
- i like the boyfriend more than i did the previous one (thought this might change if he constantly overstays his welcome in my sister's bed so i'm basically banished to the living room till ass o'clock in the morning)
i still have a bunch of work to do and a make-up exam to study for that i'm sure is going to make next week a bit of a nightmare, but i am so, so grateful all the same. and i'm going to try not to lose sight of that.
