God's Demon by Wayne Barlowe

I had another one that I can't find. It was really interesting about a city suspended by chains over a pit with a young man as the angel protector. If I can figure out what it was, I'll post.

The trilogy you mention is by Alan Campbell--Scar Night, Iron Angel and The Deepgate Codex are (if I'm remembering correctly) the book titles.

Yes. Though I only read Scar Night.

That's all I've read too. I'd like to read the others, but you should see my "to read" pile. It's nearly as tall as I am. ;)

Thomas Sniegoski has two books out featuring an angel as the main character--Kiss Before the Apocolypse and Dancing on the Head of a Pin. The main character, Remy, is an angel who chooses to live among humans and even has a human wife. He works as a PI, but he gets approached by those who know what he is and know he can help with their problems. End of the world kind of problems. Decent stories, both.

Same author did the Fallen series that dealt with nephilim (angel/human hybrids). I haven't read those so I can't say if they're good or not.

Sara Douglass has the Battle Axe trilogy that features humans with wings, but they're definitely not angels.

I did read the Sara Douglas trilogy, and I liked the first 3 books a lot! Thanks for the recommendation though.

It's been a while since I've read this series by R. A. MacAvoy
Damiano, Damiano's Lute and Raphael

I guess romance strikes Kissed by an Angel off even though it's just teen romance with some murder mystery included. Everything that comes to mind are kids or YA books, hehe!

Although if you don't mind reading manga, there's Koaru Yuki's Angel Sanctuary series. It centers on a teenage boy who is the reincarnation of an angel that rebelled against God, and basically it's an end of the world story. Angels have loftier ambitions than demons in her universe.

Although I did read a novel about the nephilim called Fallen, I think it was, a few years ago. I don't remember the author so it may be part of the series that a previous poster has mentioned above. I didn't like it, but if it's part of a series than that probably explains it. Don't you hate it when you pick up a book and find out it's part of a series?

Agreed. Although I didn't really like the Heaven arc, but I think it's because the demons are so much more interesting.
