Pell Summary:
Loki lets go. This is what happens after. (post-film; basically a fixit fic.)
Review:
After the events of the film, Loki ends up stranded on Earth. Alone and with nowhere to go, he decides to walk to Puente Antiguo, the only place with people who knew of Asgard and to help Jane and company with their efforts to repair the Bifröst. Undercover as a S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist, Loki works with the team of Jane, Erik and Darcy, and they adopt him into their team. But he's still dealing with the aftermath of his actions, and the shock of his origins, and can't decide what to do when they finally repair the bridge to Asgard.
Pell has an amazing way with words, and really gets across the deep depression Loki has fallen into. All the characterizations are spot on, and I love seeing the way Jane, Erik and Darcy react to the odd 'scientist' dropped into their midst. The reunion with Thor is thoughtful, intense and touching, though I do with the story had gone on a bit longer for more resolution of some of the other issues.
The story doesn't gloss over what Loki did in the film; though some might find it a bit too apologist, I thought the characterization of shock and depression made sense for story and character.
A great and thoughtful story, though you might want to avoid it if you find depression or references to what could be viewed as an eating disorder triggering.
