Yes, I know, I'm supposed to be writing, not reading. But the
Small Fandom Big Bang website just went live and there's already two stories posted and I'm just too excited to be creative. Thus, this...

I saw such creativity in her story - which, BTW, had originally started as a short story, more of a pwp - and was one of many who encouraged her to continue. I also became her beta, tho many (20?)chapters in. I did go back and beta the first ones, but really not as thoroughly as those that came after I started, if you follow my drift. That was one thing we had discussed doing sometime. There are still a few errors in the first several chapters, but not many, certainly not enough to stop one cold. The fic became deeper and richer as she really turned it to her vision - it is sometimes too difficult to go back to the beginning, when a writer's skill and style develop through the years.
Really, her ideas are so unique in their creativity - it's much easier to edit, than to create such a gem from one's imagination. I can edit, but I could never write like that.
I know what you mean; I often edit stories I love dearly when the grammar & spelling errors and use of incorrect words (but you can still tell what was meant) drive me spare - so that I can read it over again without the irritation. Simply because - I do see the story, the sense of it, and know I want to see what is going to happen. Usually my gut is correct and I find it was more than worth the patience, like a rough gem being cut & polished into something stunning. Sometimes I think that people were either given wondrous creativity, or the ability to edit, but not both. That's why it takes all kinds!
