On my way home from work yesterday, a drunk driver turned left illegally into on-coming traffic and I hit him at about 45 miles an hour. He was carried off via ambulance, I opted to wait for Dad to come get me I didn't care to add to the trauma of being rammed, my car annihilated, and about twenty thousand people rubbernecking to watch me blubber ( Read more... )

I will never again drive past a bad accident just because I see one or two people already there on their cellphones. Those people that stayed with me were the glue holding my very bruised and tremulous pieces together so I didn't have a COMPLETE nuclear meltdown right there on College Rd.

thank you for the wellwishes<3

Wow Kel. That is beyond fucked up. Please tell me insurance is going to deal with most of this. And you're going to file civil suit ( ... )

thank you for the wellwishes sweetie. and no panicing. even if the other dude turns out to be an illegal immigrant felon drunkenly driving a stolen car with no license (which is like.. the worst case I can think of) still gonna be okay. Daddy always told me carry as much insurance as you can afford, so I do, and then some. So I should be good *knock on wood*. I am grateful to be alive, and gotta wonder if maybe my brother didn't pull a few strings from the afterlife to keep me that way. My car smushed like a beer can and I was able to walk right out and away from it. Kinda humbling experience, actually.

It's amazing how strangers will help you out when you have been in an accident. When I totaled my car several years ago, those who witnessed the accident stopped to make sure my friend and I were okay and waited with us until the police/our parents came.

Luckily my friend and I weren't hurt. I can just imagine how painful and scary this whole thing must have been. Take care of yourself and you will be in my thoughts. As soon as I'm not suffering from teh broke, I will try to come visit =)

I look like a leper, Mel. Starting at my collarbones all the way to under my hips I am mottled in deep plum purple and midnight black bruises, striated by sunset dark red seatbelt/airbag burns. I feel hideous.

I love you and miss you severely.
