The man that lives across the street has contracted his own workers to help with various remodeling jobs on the house and yard for the entire family. Since the workers are from the company that he has some kind of directory power over, they're there the day he wants work done, and usually pretty efficient about it-I know, it's right outside my bedroom window, not more than 30 feet across the street. Now this is pretty much unheard of unless you are in a powerful position over the workers as is this man across the street. Usually they show up a few weeks after you've already spent a month or so ironing out the permits and allowances and yada-yada.

Anyway, it was brought to my attention by my mother yesterday, that one worker would take his break for lunch and then lay to nap on the sidewalk directly between where I park my car when I come back for lunch, and our front lawn. This was the only ideally located shade in the area at that time of day, and was probably kind of uncomfortable. But it was kind of adorable and now that they're done I will miss the little delights of this and the small awkward few moments when the stout, top-heavy and jolly looking Samoans and I exchanged morning salutations as I got in my car to leave. Also, it's not every day that large Micronesian men spray each other with a water hose after a hearty lunch. Oh, life's little blessings.
