I just felt the need to put something out there.
The image of love as it is portrayed in books and songs and movies is the biggest lie of mankind.
Does anyone really believe that the only fulfilling and beautiful experience to find a loved one and live happily ever after? That your problems will suddenly disappear when you're lying in someone's arms? Why do we give what we call love away so easily? Why walking around trying to impress other people, trying to make them fall in love with you? Why is kissing and sex seen as a sign of how successful someone is?
I, too, am a liar, spinning love story after love story, spinning dreams and hopes of happy endings, but deep down I know.
This world does not need any more stereotyped love.
We don't need any more meaningless romance.
We need compassion, unconditional friendship, respect.
There are so many more kinds of love which are deemed inferior in today's society because of this totally inflated romantic love. Love isn't just a word.
Love is action.
Love isn't just a bond between a man and a woman (or two men, or two women, or more, or other genders, if you're open-minded).
Love is beyond categories.
Love isn't giving someone kisses and cute nicknames and texting them three times a day. Don't make this your highest goal in life because it's the norm. Make you own goals. Love your own way.
And don't forget how much meaning there is in loving your friends and family. Or the feeling you get when you listen to your favourite song. Or the moment when you lie down after a stressful day and just feel yourself breathing.
All of this and much much more is love, and it is in no way less worth than conventional romance.
Let's make love truth.
