I don't have a Hawaii icon...

...California will have to do. ;)

Anyway, the flight was mostly okay. Hawaiian Airlines still has meals on their flights, so I didn't starve...but the seats are hard as rocks and I couldn't sleep. Alas.
Our landing was delayed for a bit because Obama was taking off. Heh...kinna funny, mostly annoying after six hours in those seats.

So I kinna got off the plane in a slightly foul mood. BUT, that shit didn't last long. As soon as the heat and the moist air hit me, my spirits soared. Hawaii is NICE. To put it mildly. Seasonal Affective Disorder can go fuck itself. Heh.
Met my dad off of his flight from Mexico, where he an' Mom had been for the past few weeks, and caught a cab to the hotel in Waikiki...
...which is literally two blocks from the fuckin' beach.
It's this little hole-in-the-wall place with what I can only describe as a lot of character. It's nice, if funky; the rooms are huge and very well equipped, with a full kitchen and everything.

I know people like to talk about the cost of living here, but I've found so far--at restaurants, at least--that, sure, you pay a lot for your food...but the portions are huge. Surfboards are everywhere; I might get a chance to learn while I'm here, which would be rad. Today's plan is to go snorkeling on this really cool-looking reef.

I'm NEVER fuckin' leaving. :P
