A typical hour of my day....
Yeah I know I haven't poste in a while. I've been very busy with work. When I get home I just want to relax and play with my kiddo before she has to go to bed. I've been checking LJ every once in a while but not really doing anything with it. I'm usualy playing a computer game or something with my spare time at home.
Work has been very busy and stressful. Just when it seems like I'm catching up on all my work I get swamped again. This week and last week have been very heavy. This morning in fact for an hour I sat here and set up an 8 page newsletter to be printed. It at first seemed like it would be a breeze to get done. Black and white, 725 copies. After converting the original file from an Adobe PDF to Corel so I can edit the damn thing, I put the ads and photos in that were supposed to be there. Set it up for doublesided printing and then ran my first proof of it. Easy. Well when I went start the first run of 200 copies, I discovered the file was so big it was going to take half an hour just to rip it to the printer. So I canceled it. Went back in and changed the photos from color to grayscale (cuts the file size on the photos to about half). Then as an afterthought I figured I should send the whole file through Acrobat Distiller to convert it down to a slightly smaller file size while retaining the resolution properties. Then I could re-open it back in Acrobat as a PDF and start printing. It took about 30 seconds to rip to the printer. Of course the actual printing of 725 copies of an 8 page newsletter takes much longer. About 4 hours. All the while I'm working on appoximately 5 other jobs at once. And no relief in sight.
So I'm getting ready to go home in a few minutes. My head and eyes hurt and I just want to sit on the floor at home and let Athen climb all over me like I'm some big jungle gym toy.
