Again I was lucky- I can see turkey vultures quite often, but I think this is only the second time I've got a decent photo of a black vulture.
AND an ENTIRELY NEW to ME bird-! Apparently it's not expected to be in So. Fla at all because I couldn't find it online, and when I leafed through my huge coffee table 'Birds of North America' book, the farthest south they show it is the extreme north edge of Georgia. I'm quite sure I ID'ed it correctly, the color and markings are unique- lovely little bird, the Black Throated Blue Warbler.
A pair of blue jays are nesting nearby- I think they bathe everyday in the bowls I have on my bear statue- the water is empty every day, and while cats drink from the bowls, they usually aren't empty the next day. Also I see the jays in the tree near the statue a lot.
So when I had some cashews I didn't want (ate too many and made myself ill, so I couldn't look at the rest of the pack) I put them on a tiled table in the back yard, and the blue jay was very pleased.
