When: After Max's death
Rating: R for violence
Summary: Beast Boy is losing his mind. Saix is going to help him find it again, the hard way.
The Story:
The beast within is a concept that Saix is familiar with. It's always there, prowling the edge of his mind, feeding on his new emotions. He used to have it perfectly tamed, but that was when he lacked a heart to rile the animal up. For now, he still has it collared.
He'd chosen to ignore the insistence of an insane mirror; anyone who trusts the word of a mirror is a fool, and he'd chosen to trust in Beast Boy's ability to control himself more than he had taken heed of Beast Boy's own fears of his weakness. Now, Beast Boy was lost, or his mind was, near enough.
An abject demonstration in why trust is wasted.
Deaths, in this place, are things the population can ill afford. Every one brings them that step closer to whatever consequences lie after the fifth. They can as ill afford for others to die as they can to die themselves. With Beast Boy like this, more deaths would be inevitable, if not immediately, then with time. He was attacking those he considered close to him, and there were too many of those for it to be worth the risk.
Talking did nothing. It was as futile as trying to talk sense into the head of the replica.
Beast Boy had to be stopped, before he killed more people, before he does something he'll never forgive himself for, and Saix was a pragmatist.
He was on his way to find Beast Boy. His throat still ached from dealing with Vexen, and his limbs were stiff and sore from being beaten in that fight, but there were few others around that Saix would entrust with the task.
