http://www.bugclinic.com/clothes_moths.htm To an untrained eye the difference is harder to tell. I do not have a magnifying glass handy at the moment nor do I want to walk down the dark hallway to the kitchen and rish being shocked by even more on the walls and kitchen door.
they look sort of like a mix betweetn these two type (pantry vs clothes). They are two tones but the color is more siver than tones of brown/cream & they are shiny. When I've killed some them leave a silver tone fine dust on surfaces. I am unable to upload my own pics with my free LJ account but I added these from online to help. I hope to learn later on today what the critters are and what the potential damage actual is. Several hints throughout this house have lead me to believe that the previous tenents were far from neat freaks. This sucks....but is not the end of the world and I thank you all for your advice.
I placed those pantry traps about five days ago but have seen about four moths caught in them. Pretty much one in about half of the traps set out. The main source seems to be the pantry. I've decided against even using that storage space. Every day there are more in there....it is empty and I've washed down the shelves. I suppose these moths hatched in this space and are just now reaching adulthood.
I guess I will ask the pest control tech for more traps (speifically for clothes moths) or find them myself. In reading online I see that their is a different pheromone trap for each type.
