Her console began beeping as a distinct and regular frequency was detected. Narrowing the focus of her scan, she was pleased to add, "Captain, I have a positive identification. Our escort is present and awaiting a hail. Pppprb."

Their route took them close enough past Aia to see the lights of habitation on its moons, a constant flow of ships passing back and forth between them. Though they joined what appeared to be a main shipping lane for the final approach to Maros An, the other ships gave them a wide berth.
Ahead, the night side of Maros An glittered with tiny points of light. Their trajectory curved away from the planet itself, toward a space station in geosynchronous orbit. Adrian glanced up at the ensign in the comm officer's seat; "Do we have permission to dock?"
