They dropped out of warp at the edge of the Ravanna system at 10:42 ship time. Adrian would freely admit that he'd been anticipating the moment since he came on shift nearly three hours earlier. The chance to take the ship in on sublights to the coordinates where their Aian escort would meet them was a very welcome one. Caretaking while she was at warp just wasn't the same.
Ahead the system's star burned a cheery yellow, the nearer planets barely visible as brighter lights against the backdrop of distant stars. The computer readout picked them out and labled them: Sheros and Laiyka, the small, hot inner planets; the imposing gas giant Aia and it's many moons; Maros An a disconcertingly earthlike blue-green; and the tiny, frozen world of Eiyal.
"Taking her in on impulse," he said, hands poised over the control console. He nodded to Leslie; "What's my heading?"
