Then those idiots in Engineering had to go and screw things up. It was probably that mini-troll's fault. Kobay hoped the little freak had fallen into the engines.
On top of all that, Dr. Tyler had to come down on his ass again. Really, as if it wasn't obvious he was just kissing up to Dr. McCoy. Kobay was man enough to admit that his work might've been a little sloppy lately. (But he wasn't bitter about the shift change.) Dr. Bunny just had to be a sore winner. (That shift leader position should have been his! He'd served under Dr. McCoy longer!) And why didn't Dr. McCoy take him on the rescue team? They'd served in combat together!
Life just wasn't fair for Kobay. He kicked the base of the biobed he was stationed at in frustration. It made him feel a little better. Umm, until it started making loud beeping noises.

Why had he been picked over Kobay? He just didn't get it.
Tyler looked like he was going to open his big mouth again when Nurse Smith reported for duty. Kobay took a minute to give the new hire a good look-over.
