Sometimes even a small-town, country doctor could have brilliant ideas. Leonard was rather smug as he enjoyed his first cup of real coffee from Sickbay’s new coffeemaker. Looked around the small gathering just outside his office, watching everyone enjoy a rich, flavorful, steaming mug. It was the first day back on the mission. A time that could have easily been full of grumpy, groggy silence. But instead, the mood was upbeat as new and experienced staff slowly began the process of getting to know one another, bonding, becoming a cohesive unit.
That cohesion was desperately gonna be tested as suddenly
General Alert was sounded.
“Damnit, but we just left starbase! Can’t we get the damn horse outta the stall before it loses a shoe!?” The coffee, no matter how wonderful, was immediately forgotten as Leonard broke up the gathering and dashed for the nearest comm. Switching to their department channel, he barked out to his staff throughout Medical, “You heard the lady! We have another Level 5 Quarantine Emergency. I want decon teams 1 and 2 reporting upfront now for chemical biohazard, isolation and neutralization procedures. Everyone else, suit up in appropriate protective gear and prepare for emergency triage!”
Turning back to the main of Sickbay, he saw his staff were already in motion. Dashing off to do his part, he continued commanding those already assembling. “Lieutenant Tyler’ll be running the show here in Sickbay. Lieutenant Sevlon’s in charge of the decon teams. I’m leadin’ the team to Engineering. Everyone keep an ear to the comm for more details.” By the time he was done, he was mostly in his biohazard suit. He nodded to a slightly stunned Tyler before donning his hood, then motioned to his team and the decon teams to follow him to Engineering.
