Let Macy's Know What You Think
I'm sure everybody's read about Macy's caving to a fringe-group by removing mannequins for Boston Gay Pride from a store display (after putting it up in. Of course now they say it was a "miscommunication," but that the changes will stay. Somehow, I don't think this would have happened if it was a display for any other group.

The leader of the anti-gay group MassResistance was quoted in the Herald as saying:

“They were male mannequins with enlarged breasts, and one was wearing a skirt,” said MassResistance president Brian Camenker, referring to the gay pride flag wrapped around one figure, cinched with a white belt. “It was really disgusting.”

I'm sure he'd be happier if gay people (not just, mannequins) would all just disappear.

I sent them a letter:

Dear Macy's executives,

Ms. Kazan said, "At this point, unfortunately, the window is going to
stand as is," she said. "What has transpired has transpired."

What is most unfortunate is that it is apparently beyond Macy's to
recognize when they've made a mistake and to simply make it right by
returning the display to its original setup. Whatever the rationale or
"miscommunication" in altering the display for Gay Pride after going
through all that effort to set it up - why not take the higher moral
ground and step up to stand front and center with the Mayor, and
professionals, gay and straight, all over the city who value diversity
and honesty over craven homophobia?

I have no connection to Boston's Gay Pride. I'm not even gay, but I
have friends and co-workers and fellow congregants who are. I'm just a
professional working in the city who is interested in justice and
recognition for all our citizens. Soon all these bigots, like
Camenker, who are untowardly fascinated with "enlarged male breasts"
and making homosexual men and women invisible will be part of the
past. Where will Macy's stand?
