two years since my last post; i checked my account today on a whim (the whim of a madman, like in Speed).
Not much to say other than I'm in Louisiana again, finished school in December, and I'm up for a job as a library assistant at Tulane.
That's really all there is-- I'm enjoying the peace of information input right now, reading a lot of books, watching a lot of TV- that's kind of how it's always worked for me: seasons of work followed by seasons of rest, at the end of the semester I was working 20 hours a day 7 days a week, 2 hours of sleep a night and 2 in the afternoon, and so now my interest in art has gone down but I keep the ideas and the brain from going stale.
In other news, a few weeks ago, my dad broke his nose when he fainted one night,
and my uncle got hit by a car and broke both his legs.
they're both ok(my dad more so), but it's been an ordeal, most of all on my mom who's had to help out through all this even while her company's making her work overtime. I'm gonna book my parents a nice weekend out of town so they don't go nuts, and dammit cuz they deserve it.
books I'm reading: (allatonce)
Cosmos - Carl Sagan
Acme Library of Novelty - C.F. Ware
The Faerie Queen Books 1and2 - Edmund Spenser
Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton (again)
Paradise - Donald Barthelme
The Complete Sherlock Holmes Vol. 1 - Arthur Conan Doyle (again)
The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold
Shortcomings - Adrian Tomine
Kaddish and other Poems 1958-1960 - Allen Ginsburg
A Scanner Darkly - Philip K. Dick (again)
Shakespeare's Memory - Jorge Luis Borges
Rubaiyal of Omar Khayyam - trans. by Edward Fitzgerald
The Science of Self-Realization - A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Foxfire 2: ghost stories, spring wild plant foods, spinning and weaving, midwifing, burial customs, corn shuckin's wagon making and more affairs of plain living - Eliot Wigginton
I just try to live my life according to what Aleda Shirley used to say: "Read everything."
