TRC Chapter 166 **SPOLIERS**
Well, chapter 166 lived up to the spoilers.
Kurogane did cut off his arm to leave it as a sacrifice, but he left Sohi too!!! Damn, this the second sword Kurogane has lost on this journey. I thought that splash page with Kurogane and the two swords was a clue, until I realized that the two swords he has are the two versions of Ginryuu. All that was left of Kurogane's father was that one arm with the sword before the monster ate that arm too.
I wonder, how angry Fai is going to be now? He was super-pissed after Kurogane saved his life by turning Fai into a vampire and only able to drink Kuro's blood. This time, Kurogane is the one that gave up a body part, along with his sword, to save Fai's life. 'Course, Kurogane isn't actually going to let him pull that bullshit because doing it Fai and Sakura's way didn't turn out so well in the last world.
That was one of my favourite lines: we did it yours and the princess's way (and look where that got us--the princess's soul in a dream, her body fatally stabbed in another world that just so happens to have that guy you were running from), now we are doing it my way.
Also, where will all that magic that made up Fai's tattoo go? Will Yuuko keep it since she has--had the tattoo or will Fai's magic that the tattoo absorbed revert back to him? Because the tattoo is gone now--Ashura-ou was very specific that the tattoo will last as long as the maker is alive and he isn't anymore. I wonder if that tattoo also kept Fai's magic from killing him while he wore it. Hmmmm...Ashura also knew that when he died, the tattoo would dissolve, so naturally he would know that the magic it absorbed would have returned to Fai, so perhaps Ashura-ou's magic that made up the tattoo is so interwoven with Fai's magic that when Fai's magic returns to him--which it should because it has no form anymore and without form, the energy should naturally flow back to its source--Ashura's magic will stay laced with it, giving Fai that protection back--so that using his magic won't kill him but make his magic stronger every time he uses it.
Also, I think that Kurogane is a fast thinker and even though he isn't a magic user, he sure-the-fuck knows a lot about it--makes sense, mother being a Miko and serving Tomoyo-hime. He knew that his arm and his sword would be an appropriate sacrifice because Fai's magic wanted to keep Fai. The curse used Fai's current magic, which is tied intimately with Kurogane's blood now, as Kurgane's blood flows in Fai's body and he is also magically tied to Kurogane however the vampire magic works. And Fai did work the magic that summoned Kurogane's sword, so it is also laced with Fai's magic.
Also, I think I know how Kurogane might get an arm back--I did have 'his' arm, but it really won't be his, it will be more like his father's arm. The splash page with the two Ginryuu's gave me the clue--I can see Tomoyo-hime turning his father's sword, or maybe the one he payed Yuuko, into a left arm to replace the one he sacrificed to save his companion's life. And I bet it has the exact same tattoo on it that his father had on his right arm.
Mokona's earring is interesting. I know that Clow and Yuuko gave Soel and Larg each an earring and each has their own purpose, just like each Mokona has their own purpose, the largest being what they do with powers: black!Mokona is sealing and white!Mokona is amplifying--that is something we got from xxxHOLiC, I believe. Damn, which one is Larg and Soel? (Just found it: Mokona=Soel=Modoki [White] is the one with Sakura and Mokona=Larg=Modoki [Bleack] is with Watanuki) And I wonder in what dream Larg told Soel. I don't remember seeing Mokona in any of the dreams with Watanuki recently, but I could have missed him.
By-the-by, the Soel & Larg book has been translated.

Okay, so I got distracted again--man, short attention span--reading the finished translation of Soel & Larg and one of the scenes backs up my Theory!!! Ah, my Watanuki Theory--I have so many of them so far and all insane.
It is HOLIDAY CHOCOLATE (Pgs. 177-181) which shows the two eating a "fondant chocolat" that Clow made and is the exact fucking thing that Watanuki makes for Valentine's Day in xxxHOLiC. Except I am missing some of my Volumes, making me PO-ed. I can't remember if Watanuki used a recipe to make the fondant or it was a recipe that he already knew. Grrr...now I'm not in the mood anymore to write--I hate not finding my manga! But the idea for Kurogane's arm is a good one!
