anything off the trolley, dears?

Today I had myself a Cornish Pasty. mmboy. living the dream.

Last night was the Freshers Dinner, which is something like a Convocation in the States. We dressed up and had champagne in the lobby beforehand and then had a formal dinner. The Holy Cross kids kind of segregated themselves from the rest of the JYAs, but maybe it's better to really get to know each other before we meet kids from other schools. They are also so much fun - I'm so glad I'm getting to know everyone! It's like Freshman year but better...

I was actually so afraid that this would be like Freshman year, because that sucked - meeting new people and being away from home - but I don't know, it might be the new exciting place, it might be the people, it might just be my own growth as a person... but it feels great this time around.

What more highlights? It was a late night - we hit up the college bar, where we talked literature with a British guy - how cool, I know. And then we skipped the orientation night club thing that was too far and just went to a little bar closer to where we live. And then Lauren and I intensely debated the validity of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as a legitimate work of literature for two hours.

Today we were touristy - I took loads of pictures, but until there's internet on my room, you can't see them. Walking around we stumbled across the Eagle and Child, where Tolkien and CS Lewis used to hang out with his buddies - we might go there for Fish and Chips some time soon.

Also, today I purchased a phone. I can call US with it... so... this form of communication is now an option :)

So now we're hitting up the library to get some books - I actually have reading to do! ... then dinner in the dining hall and another night at the college bar - have to soak up the fun before tutorials start up next week!

Cheers,
Meg
