I wouldn't say that it surprises me because it doesn't, but the amount of time and effort individuals reserve and hatred invested towards the person next to them; had it be used to carry out projects or ideas that helped evolve mankind rather than emphasize the animalistic brutality that were known to embody without needing to be reminded.
