Last week was pretty uneventful. Worked, it was okay. They hired me a senior citizen named Joan to help answer phones from 10am-2pm, which would be helpful, but she's kind of slow on the learning curve. I'm trying to be patient, but after having been in secretarial positions all your life, you SHOULD be able to pick up how to transfer phone calls in two days. And she has not. (Patience is not exactly my best quality. I am trying my hardest)
Friday night Dave and I played tennis--and were horrible since we hadn't played in two weeks--and then we stopped in at The National Grille to say hello to Dee and Walter. They asked if we wanted to go bowling at the Elks club here in York, and we agreed to go for a little while. This was the first time I'd ever seen the Elks club here, but Dave had been there once before. It's a HUMONGOUS Victorian style mansion, and its gorgeous inside. The coolest part that I saw as we walked in and around a little bit was the basement. There's an old fashioned wooden bowling alley set up down there, where you have to set the pins up manually. It was really neat. Dee and I re-set pins, and the guys bowled. There's also a dark wood, low light style poker room down there and it looks straight out of a 50's gentleman's club. It was amazing. Lots of beautiful woodwork and just a huge building. I want to live there! LOL
Saturday morning, Dave and I had breakfast at The National Grille, and then we set off for Hershey Park. I was a wee bit nervous, because I'm not exactly an amusement park person, and I DON'T ride rides, but I still wanted Dave to have a good time and not feel bad about me not riding. But it went better than expected, I think. The only amusement park I'd ever been to was Cedar Point when I was like, 13 or so...so *shrug*
We rode a couple things together---a ski-lift style skyline ride that showed you most of the park, a log flume (spelling?), the kissing tower (like hershey kisses? It's a big rotating disk that goes waaaaaaaaaaay up in the air and shows you all of Hershey, PA), and one roller coaster. The wimpest roller coaster that adults are allowed on, in fact. I'd never ridden one, and I was kind of afraid to, so Dave took me on the little one. And...well, let's just say...it didn't go so well. Granted, I'm no longer afraid of them (now, of course I am still terrified of those humongous ones with loops and no floorboards and all that crap) but it made me so miserable motion sick I wanted to curl up in a ball and die. So yeah, I'd say that'll be about my last try....because if the wimpest coaster made me want to vomit, imagine what loops and spins and upside down would do? It wouldn't be pretty. At all.
Dave rode a couple other scary coasters on his own, but I didn't mind waiting for him...I liked watching all the goofy people. Our friend Julie works part-time there (that's how we could afford to go! free tickets! YAY JULIE!) and we saw her as well. Bought entirely TOO much chocolate and came home.
Today was a pretty good day as well. Good grocery day with lots of coupons, and a low price at the register, went to the mall and used my CityCash at New York & Company, and bought Dave's gifts for his b-day. I am like, WAY ahead of the game on that one, since his birthday isn't until September 29, so, hopefully he doesn't get it in his head to somehow buy the things I got for him :) Made a quick trip to walmart for laundry detergent, and now I'm back home, doing laundry for the next workweek.
Dryer should be about done, so off to fold I go!
