It's a matter of fact

"To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance."
Oscar Wilde

"People who do not love themselves can adore others, because adoration is making someone else big and ourselves small. They can desire others, because desire comes out of a sense of inner incompleteness, which demands to be filled. But they can not love others, because love is an affirmation of the living growing being in all of us. If you don't have it, you can't give it."
Andrew Matthews

"Never say that someone completes you. we have to feel whole even when we are by ourselves, for needing a certain someone is not "love" but dependency. So rather than search for someone who will complete you, wait for the person who will complement your completeness."

Adding another one for good measure :)

"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."
Carrie Bradshaw

Such a completely misunderstood topic. Yet I sometimes think that it's the solution to many, many relational problems. It's not discussed often, but I thoroughly encourage anyone to think about it: if you don't love yourself, how do you expect anyone else to?
