This makes me sad, though not as sad as it could have. In my mind and heart, Cabin Pressure ended quite a while ago, when it... changed. The final episode is needed as closure, though the BBC are doing their mystery thing and not releasing anything but whispers! rumours! about the broadcasting date, thus denying us said closure. Waiting until Christmas?! Easter is closer, if they need a major Christian religious festivity for a [Festivity] Cabin Pressure Special!
I am jealous, plain and simple, of the people who were there for the recording. It's not just ~knowing what happens~, or having the privilege of hearing and laughing at all the things that will be forever cut out of the final edit. It's also the privilege of being there for the end of an era, and hearing what I heard was a touching speech by Mr Finnemore himself, and presumably a moving moment all around. All thoughts and feelings about the direction of the show aside, it has been a major part of my life, and it will always be, in that way where the past is solid wax, or maybe amber, with everything that contributed to its formation forever trapped in there.
And yeah, I'm flitting through other fandoms now, although in a less dedicated manner, and I don't know yet which, if any, will hold my attention for as long and as intensely as CP has. The melted wax of the present is flowing, and- ow, careful! occasionally burning my fingers.
