Today was the first day of lectures and registration (or matriculation if you don't listen to the stupid bureaucrats at the Uni, wankers). It did not start well.
First I couldn't get parked, then I had to pretty much run all the way up to campus (and as most of you will know, running and Sharon are decidedly non-mixy things) to try and make my lecture on time. I got there with seconds to spare. But wait. The door is locked. I check to see if the room is booked by the department. Nope.
Luckily this happened in the Library so I was able to go downstairs to phone the course co-ordinator and get some much needed moral support from my friend Claire. 'Sorry, did we forget to tell you? The class is in the HATII building today...' Grr.
I turned up ten minutes late and after that most of the day was a blur. I spoke to a couple of people on the course but I wasn't exactly overwhelmed by the camaraderie. I went to 4 lectures. I waited in line for well over half an hour to part with more money than I've ever paid out in one go before in my life. And then got the worst ID card photo out of all 4 the Uni have supplied me with so far.
So, not the most auspicious of starts but at least having heard more about the course now it does seem all it's cracked up to be (apparently it's the buzz of the archiving community, what exactly constitutes a buzz I'm not sure.....).
Here's hoping it's all downhill from here. And damn my new health kick, I could really do with a beer.....
