Excision Surgery at the CEC

Feb 25, 2008 10:45

Almost two weeks ago, I had laparoscopic laser excision surgery of my endometriosis with Drs. Albee and Sinervo of the Center for Endometriosis Care. My endo was barely Stage 2, but it was deep into my uterine walls and had been causing me a lot of problems. I was grateful to have the surgery and have a chance to remove it without having to have a hysterectomy as my GYN had recommended. I had a slower and more painful recovery from this kind of lap than I did from my previous lap, but I am feeling much better and much stronger.

Have my endo symptoms completely resolved? Ask me in a few months. Did this work and do I think I'm "cured"? Again, ask me in a few months once I'm fully healed. I have posted before about visiting Dr. Albee and my experience at the CEC to share information, not to declare that this was the best treatment option or would work for everyone. I am blessed that my insurance company approved this out of network surgery and that I only had to pay a separate doctor's fee.

If you have questions about the CEC or their approach to endometriosis, I would recommend starting at their website, reading the endo Q&A (especially the section toward the bottom with the heading "What does Dr. Albee believe?") and the educational articles

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to comment and I'll be happy to answer.
