Err, I wanted to make a note of languages. I have a large post of languages asnd their origins, but it's only half done... so the main language these journals will be written in will be in Saldaran (the most common language) whenever language isn't specified.

Even so, some characters won't be able to speak Saldaran, (mostly people who come from areas not close to the sea, or in the backhills) and they will probably have a tough time communicating with anyone in the journals. Well, there is something that can be done about that:

Saldaran is a language that was spread because of the need for communication among traders who couldn't understand each other in many places. It's easier to pick up enough Saldarin to communicate in very bad grammar, because of the way it was built, than any other language. It would still take about a year of studying it to be good enough to carry on a decent conversation though (depending on the person).
