Where's the rain? Where's the Granola?!

By all means I should be asleep right now. I'm not. I'm in Seattle. I'm actually sleepless in Seattle... somebody stop me.

I spent a good part of my day on the plane here--not enough in bed with my darling before I left. The air pressure wasn't so bad on my ears this time, but it made me feel sick just the same. I would have enjoyed more of my book, but i got sleepy. I would have enjoyed more of the sleeping, but there was this incredibly chatty woman just standing in the isle next to me going on and on about god knows what. Her "S"s were really hissing and wanted to ask her to return to her seat. I now understand the merit of noise-canceling headphones.

I missed my Yoga-dance fusion class in Seattle so I decided to just roam around and see what I could see in downtown Seattle. I was so disappointed. It was so yuppy for the most part that I could have puked (and almost did, actually...) and most of the places that looked worthwhile at all were closed. I accidentally found cyber dogs, a vegan cyber cafe with about 10 different vegan hotdogs with interesting toppings, and asked what the owner suggested. For a non-Seattle dwelling vegan, it was the vegan "tuna" sandwich. Now at first, this seemed like a worthwhile venture, and served on a split open wheat roll, nice and toasty and topped with avacado, it was actually pretty delicious. It tasted like tuna so much, in fact, that I had my doubts about it being tofu. But I was so hungry-- and even vegans should eat "seafood" in Seattle (why not?). I ate it all in one sitting (which I never do), and hit the streets again. For the rest of the evening, the sandwich was not tasting so delicious, and I have re-affirmed that I never care to eat tuna (the fish or the tofu immitation) again in my life.

One of the highlights of my night were, again accidentally, finding (Toys in) Babeland, a "Bust" favorite. The girl at the counter was super helpful and it was great to see so many women/couples exploring their options and playing with the some 100 toys the store has to offer. I made a more conventional, but sophisticated purchase I think. Anyway...

I also ran into a cool park where people were playing frisbee, football, basketball, soccer, or just sitting around hanging out. It was a really cool little place near the community college, but it made me sad, in a way. It made me realize that in Seattle, you need friends to have fun. Or at least a dog. Currently, I have neither...

I kept walking further south and finding more of nothing to thrilling and when I decided to come back to catch the fairy (yes, i know, "ferry..." just let me be a little escapist. I am on vacation...), I didn;t realize how far I had to go. I had to catch a late fairy because they only go out once an hour. So I went to find a soy chai somewhere to take into the cool night air. Alas, not even a STARBUX was open in FRICKIN SEATTLE!!!! *sigh* I hope I start liking this city more tomorrow. Everyone says "oh, you'll love Seattle!"...I feel like I must be in the wrong place. I'm a sad tomato. The worst was that when I was trying to chill on the fairy this yuppy came and talked my ear off about nothing of any consequence... eeeeek. Here's to Friday...

Okay, I'm off to watch Tori videos and hopefully fall asleep so I don't have to be Tom Hanks movie anymore.
