How much do I love Mitch Benn? Not quite as much as he loves the Beeb, apparently:
Click to viewWelsh soup today, Since I have to use up the lamb. That'll be the fresh meat used up, then I can defrost the Game Pack I bought, being composed of venison, pigeon, rabbit and pheasant. The stall I bought it from had some squirrel on special, but when I looked in the vacuum-sealed packs there were a few stray grey hairs, which rather ruined the anonymity. So with a cry of "Damn you, Beatrix Potter!" I put the squirrel back and went for the mixed game.
Still, I've ended up as the inventor of the Nutella pastry. I cut a small square of leftover shortcrust, piled a teaspoon of Nutella in the middle, then brought the corners to meet in the middle. Eggy washed the result, and popped them in the top shelf of the oven. The corners shrank away from each other, so the resulting pastry looked rather nasty, but I discovered that once they cooled they're rather nice for breakfast.
